Why it’s used

What the evidence says
Acai has been studied fairly extensively as a dietary antioxidant, with laboratory measures showing high antioxidant capacity in the fruit itself. Evidence that this translates into a measurable topical benefit on skin, at the concentrations used in cosmetic formulas, is thin — most of the supporting research is on ingestion, not application.
