Why it’s used
Taken by some to support nerve health, particularly in the context of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
What the evidence says
Clinical trials of benfotiamine for diabetic neuropathy have produced mixed results, and a Cochrane systematic review of B vitamins (including benfotiamine) for diabetic peripheral neuropathy found the evidence insufficient to draw firm conclusions about benefit. The overall body of human trial evidence remains small and inconsistent.
