What the evidence says

NCCIH states there isn't enough reliable scientific evidence to support health claims made for goldenseal in people. Most available research involves berberine, one of its constituent compounds, studied in isolation rather than goldenseal itself.

Context

NCCIH notes that most research on goldenseal and its components has been conducted in cells or animals rather than in people.

Insufficient dataToo little has been studied to say either way.
