Why it’s used

Taken as a natural source of zinc and other trace minerals, and marketed broadly as a general mineral or 'vitality' supplement.

What the evidence says

Oysters are naturally high in zinc, and zinc itself has a substantial body of evidence for immune and metabolic roles. However, oyster extract as a standalone supplement ingredient has not been separately studied in controlled human trials, so claims specific to the whole extract (rather than the zinc it contains) are not well supported.
