A dried or powdered animal pancreas, typically bovine or porcine, sold as a glandular supplement. It may contain some residual digestive enzymes such as amylase, lipase, and protease.
Why it’s used
Taken by some as a general digestive aid or under the belief that consuming a glandular tissue supports the corresponding organ, an idea rooted in traditional glandular-therapy practice rather than established physiology.
What the evidence says
There is little rigorous clinical research on oral pancreas glandular extract itself, as distinct from purified pancreatic enzyme products used medically under supervision. Whether consuming animal pancreas tissue affects the human pancreas has not been established in mainstream research.
