Rauwolscine is a plant-derived alkaloid closely related in structure to yohimbine, found in the bark of Pausinystalia yohimbe and some other plants. It is sometimes called alpha-yohimbine and is sold as a standalone supplement or in combination fat-loss and pre-workout formulas.
Why it’s used
Taken by some for its stimulant-like effects, often marketed for fat loss, focus, or exercise performance, and frequently included in combination pre-workout or thermogenic products.
What the evidence says
There is no NIH Office of Dietary Supplements fact sheet for rauwolscine specifically. Human clinical research on rauwolscine as an isolated compound is very limited; most of what is known about this class of alkaloids comes from studies of yohimbine, its closer-studied structural relative, which is not the same substance. Claims about fat loss or performance for rauwolscine itself have not been established in controlled human trials.
