A nucleic acid, the molecule cells use to carry genetic instructions from DNA to build proteins. In supplements it usually appears as yeast- or plant-derived RNA, sold as a source of nucleotides.
Why it’s used
Taken by some with the idea of supporting cellular repair, immune function, or general vitality through dietary nucleotide intake.
What the evidence says
The body readily synthesizes its own nucleotides, and there is little mainstream human evidence that oral RNA supplementation in healthy adults produces measurable benefit. Most research on dietary nucleotides concerns specific populations, such as infant formula, rather than general adult supplementation.
