What the evidence says
Most human research involves injectable lentinan extract used in specific clinical contexts rather than oral shiitake supplements. Evidence that oral shiitake supplements support immune function in general populations is limited.
Context
Human trials of shiitake-derived extracts have used varying doses and durations, and results are difficult to compare directly to whole-mushroom supplement products sold over the counter.
